Are you looking for ways to cap off each night of your camping trip? Do you want to toss the cliché scary campfire stories aside and opt for something that will make you all laugh? If so, then you need to learn a few camping games to keep in your back pocket.
Doing so can have everyone enjoying themselves as they wrap up the day. Before you guys hit the hay, you’ll share funny stories and moments that will have all of you rolling on the ground.
See below for an in-depth list of camping games that you can use for your next outing in the great outdoors.
1. Press Conference
The best camping games are the ones that require no extra effort on your behalf. With the press conference game, you won’t have to bring any extra props, materials, or anything else!
Here’s how you play: pick one person from your group to play the role of the “celebrity”. Whoever you decide on will walk away from the campfire for a few minutes while you guys huddle up.
While they’re away, the rest of you will decide on what celebrity that person will be. Just a note: it doesn’t have to be a celebrity. It can be a movie character, animal, or even a person you all know. Whatever you all decide on!
Once you’ve decided on a “celebrity”, you’ll summon the person back and have them field questions, like in a press conference! The questions you ask them will slowly help them figure out who/what they’re supposed to be. They can guess at any time.
For example, let’s say that you all decide you want the celebrity to be Nick Jonas. To help them figure it out, you could ask questions like “What are your brothers up to these days?” or “Do you still get jealous?”. One warning: make sure the person playing celebrity knows of the celebrity you’ve chosen. Otherwise, the game could drag on forever.
2. Two Truths and a Lie
If you’re playing with your family, your kids might enjoy the chance to blatantly lie without getting in trouble! This can be a great wind-down game with plenty of laughs before you head to your tents/trailers for the night.
Speaking of, if you’re looking for an awesome camping trailer, be sure to visit https://caravanwoods.com/ to learn about their luxury off-grid trailer. It will make all of your camp outings all the more special—and comfortable!
Back to the task at hand! The name of this game is pretty self-explanatory. One by one, each person will get a chance to list out three fun facts about themselves. Two of them being facts, one of them being a lie (hence the name). The rest of you around the campfire will try to figure out which one is the lie.
You can raise the stakes a bit for those who guess wrong. If you’re with kids, then those that guess wrong have to make a funny animal noise. If you’re with adults, then those who guess wrong have to take a drink. It’s a blast no matter who you’re with!
3. Ghosts
While this one can take a while based on the size of your group, it’s always a fun game to play on a camping site. All you need for the game is 2 tents (trailers will do) and 2 sleeping bags.
Start by splitting everyone up into 2 teams. Once those two teams have been decided, you both will go into your respective tents (your base) and decide who the ghost will be for your team during that turn. Whoever is the ghost will go outside and hide in their sleeping back (like a ghost).
Each ghost has to try and guess who the other one is. They can use any strategy to do so except for pulling the other person’s sleeping bag off.
Once someone guesses the ghost correctly, that ghost now becomes a member of the winning team. The game is over when the other team is without any more players.
4. I Went to Market
Do you have the memory it takes to win? This game is perfect because it takes very little time and can be played while everyone is hanging around the campfire.
To start, the first player will start by saying “I went to the market and bought”, then list an item at the store. The second player will then say “I went to the market and bought”, then have to list the first player’s item, as well add another item.
For example, let’s say the first player says “I went to the market and bought paper towels”, then the second person says “I went to the market and bought paper towels and a bag of broccoli. Then the third person would say “I went to the market and bought paper towels, a bag of broccoli, and a birthday cake”. The list goes on until someone can’t remember the list.
5. Charades
This game is an oldy, but a goody. Everyone understands the premise of charades, so you can start the game right away with very little explanation.
The goal of the game is simple, you just think of something to act out, then get to it! You fellow campers will have to shout out the correct answer.
This can also be turned into a team game (if you’re interested). Just rip some paper into tiny pieces, then write out things that the other team will have to act out. The team that gets all of them correctly first is the winner!
