The UGC NET test is administered by the National Testing Agency (NTA). It is used to determine whether students are qualified for Assistant Professorships, Junior Research Fellowships, or both at Indian universities and colleges.
The NTA conducts the UGC NET test twice a year, in June and December. However, it has been postponed due to COVID-19 and subsequent lockdowns. As a result, the UGC NET exam, which was set to take place in December 2021, has been postponed. The UGC NET 2022 notice is likely to be issued in April 2022.
The National Eligibility Authority (NTA) will administer the UGC NET 2022 June session for Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) seats in Indian government institutions and colleges.
The test dates for the UGC NET 2022 June exam will be announced on their website www.ugcnet.nta.nic.in.

In March 2022, the National Testing Agency is expected to release the UGC NET June announcement for Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship (JRF).
UGC NET 2022 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must apply after reviewing the following qualifications to take the UGC NET 2022 exam: The following are the eligibility criteria for UGC NET:
- Candidates must have a Master’s degree or its equivalent from a UGC-accredited university or institution.
- Humanities (including languages), Social Science, Computer Science and Applications, and Electronic Science qualifying exams are required.
- Candidates must have received a minimum of 55 per cent. Students in the reserved category need a minimum of 50 per cent.
- Candidates in their last semester of a Master’s Degree are also eligible to apply.
- PhD holders receive a 5% reduction in overall grades. Individuals in this group must have successfully passed their Master’s degree exams before September 19, 1991.
UGC NET 2022 Reservation Policy
UGC-NET is subject to the Indian government’s reservation policy. According to this, 10% of seats in Central Universities and Institutions Deemed to be Universities are reserved for the category General-Economically Weaker Section (GEN-EWS), 15% for the category Scheduled Caste(SC), 7.5% for the category Scheduled Tribe(ST), and 27% for the category Other Backward Classes of the Non-Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL).

UGC NET 2022 Selection Procedure
If a candidate passes the UGC NET 2022 entrance exam, they will be selected from a merit list category that will be made accessible on the internet. To qualify for the entrance exam, the top 6% of all students who took both sections of the examination will be deemed qualified. In accordance with the cut-off score for their category, admission to different Indian universities or institutions for the job of Assistant Professor or Junior Research Fellow (JRF) will be granted. Only the top 15% of applicants in each area and topic will be chosen and declared appropriate for the position of Assistant Professor at the university level.
